Practical answers for homeowners, business owners and project teams planning their next space.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Getting started
What project sizes do you work on?
We welcome inquiries for everyday renovations, additions, custom homes, commercial interiors, franchise locations, workplaces and industrial facilities. The right scope depends on the actual work and location.
Do I need drawings before contacting you?
No. Start with the project location, a description of your goals and any information you already have. Photos, plans, surveys and equipment lists are useful when available.
Do you work across Canada?
Yes, we welcome inquiries from every province and territory. Availability, delivery approach and the required local professional involvement are confirmed before the engagement is agreed.
How do I request a proposal?
Use the project inquiry form to share your location, project type, intended work and timing. Include a drawing or folder link if available. We use that brief to understand the scope and identify follow-up questions.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Design & engineering
Can you coordinate architecture and engineering?
We help define and coordinate the architectural, structural and building-service inputs required for the agreed project. The proposal identifies the disciplines, deliverables and responsibilities.
Can you work with an existing architect, engineer or builder?
Yes. Let us know who is already involved and what work has been completed. We can discuss how our scope fits into the wider project team.
Can you use drawings prepared by someone else?
Existing drawings can be reviewed when you have permission to share and use them. Their suitability, accuracy and any further work required are assessed before relying on them.
Are renderings, interiors or construction visits included?
These are discussed when the scope is defined. The proposal specifies the level of visualisation, interior detail and construction-phase involvement included.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Permits & timing
Can you guarantee a permit or a review date?
No. The relevant authority decides approvals and review timing. We help prepare the agreed documentation and coordinate responses within the project scope.
What determines the design schedule?
Project complexity, available existing information, review decisions, specialist inputs and the agreed deliverables all affect the schedule. A project-specific sequence is discussed during scoping.
What happens if the reviewer requests changes?
Review comments are assessed against the submitted scope. The project team coordinates the required responses and identifies whether additional information or services are needed.
Is a drawing package the same as permission to build?
No. Confirm the approvals and issued documents needed for your project with the relevant authority and project professionals before starting construction.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Fees & communication
How are fees established?
Fees follow the specific scope, deliverables, required disciplines and project information. A written proposal sets out the services, assumptions and commercial terms before work starts.
Does submitting a form book a consultation?
No. A submitted inquiry is saved with a reference. Consultation timing and availability are confirmed separately.
How should I send plans or photographs?
Add a secure project-folder link to your inquiry, or email admin@aozatengineering.ca. Include your inquiry reference and ensure you are authorized to share the material.
What if I do not know my budget or timeline yet?
Choose the undecided or flexible option and tell us what you do know. An early conversation can help establish the information needed to move forward.

a question?
Tell us what you are considering. You do not need a finished brief to begin.
